It’s been less than a week, but a lot has happened since my last Infernal Dispatch!
First and most significantly, my bestest internet friend @jilldoesprompts had her tablet and laptop stolen. That gear is essential for her art, so I offered to write commissioned stories to help her raise money to replace what was stolen! And you know what? We did it! In the past few days, several of you reached deep into your hearts and donated over $300. Jill and I are absolutely floored by the outpouring of support.
This means that for the next little bit, I’ll be focusing on fulfilling the first paid commissions of my writing career. I’m a little nervous, but I’m even more excited. I have four commissions on my plate, each at between 2,000 and 2,500 words. I think this plays to my strengths; many of my favorite stories have been about that length, so I have a good feel for the pace and flow at that word count. The one problem is that these are some really good prompts and I’ll need to work hard to not have these stories sprawl into 8,000 word novellas.
In other news, I continue to get more and more followers! Over the past ten days, I’ve gained 50+ new readers, which is insane! We’ve halved the distance to the unholy follower count of 666. I’m still open to suggestions about how to celebrate 666! We can do it, lewdites!
